This book is dedicated to the people who are looking for these moments when everything seems to stop and, paradoxically, also seems to accelerate; that place located in time where you feel that you do not exist and, paradoxically, you feel your existence more than ever; that space and that time where you know you are alone and in silence and, yet, you feel surrounded by an immeasurable immensity.
Susana Balán was educated in clinical psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. Under the guidance of Enrique Pichon-Rivière, the acclaimed Argentine psychoanalyst, she received further research training in social psychology and public opinion. After many years of private practice in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, since 1998 Balán has worked as a psychotherapist in New York. Balán has authored several books in Spanish and Portuguese on feminine identity and on couple relationships, with English translations. A first version of Paths was published in Spanish as Caminos by El Nuevo Extremo in Buenos Aires in 2008.
